How to Fight your Spiritual Enemies

Updated: Apr 19

How many of you ever take notice when you see a fight of what really happens?

How to Fight your Spiritual Enemies

Take for instance a war movie—I know we have seen many. Do you notice that when one strikes, the other doesn’t just stand there and take it? What does he do—he fights back. That battle rages on until one gets worn out and defeated.

How does the Bible put it? “The race is not for the swift—BUT for those who can endure.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11)

That is what we all need to pray and ask God to help us with—To Endure when we embark in Warfare Prayer (that just means you use the word of God as weapons against the enemies, no baby prayers).

Be prepared for battle when you embark on Spiritual Warfare Prayers

Don’t believe that because you are covered under the blood of Jesus and pray with his authority (Luke 10:19) that you will have an easy fight against your spiritual enemies.

God already told us that it is finished when Jesus died on the cross but we still have to do our part. Many Christians are scared to fight their battles even with God fighting for them—they are like the Israelites that came back with a bad report even after seeing all the miracles God did for them against Pharaoh and through the wilderness.

God is a man of war—the Lord is His name (Exodus 15:3) God is a mighty warrior, we are all soldiers in the Lord’s army and therefore all must fight against the devil and all his cohorts. The word is our weapon and we will be victorious against the devil as the battle is already won BUT don’t think the devil will give up easily.

His best defence is to use the tools of frustration, discouragement or fear against us. Jesus told us that when we pray we must be like the persistent widow, who kept on returning to the shrew judge to avenge her of her adversary. (Luke 18:1-8)

DON’T BE TOO QUICK TO QUIT

The Lord told me to go on 21 days of midnight prayers against the spirit of witchcraft. I will share with you a few things I learned during these days of spiritual warfare. I had written down everything on a list of all I observed and experienced during those days so I become aware of things to look out for each time I go into prayer. These that I am sharing will empower you so you won’t quit-but endure when the Lord tells you to start praying about something and you see the devil waging war against you.

Here are 3 things I experienced during my Spiritual Battle:

  1. Violent Threats to inflict fear, but I remembered that no weapons formed against me shall prosper, (Isaiah 54:17) so I kept praying.

  2. The enemy tried to cause strife between me and other family members—especially the person he was using to speak threats against me. I prayed and asked the Lord to control my words. (Psalms 141:3-4)

  3. He attacked my brother with sickness using severe pain to distract me from praying. The Lord gave me a vision one of the days I prayed and showed me the enemy that had always caused my brother to get sick. So I wrote a few prayer points and prayed them during the days to protect him and to help my prayers from being hindered.

What I remembered when this started was war movies of how soldiers had to hide their loved ones from their enemies before they met on the battlefield. It is a tactic of the devil to stop you from praying especially when you are making progress against his strongholds in your life or those you are praying for.

7 Tips on how to Fight and Win your next Spiritual Battle

  1. Know that God has your back—Trust him (Proverbs 3:5-6)

  2. Pray covering prayers over yourself and your loved ones. I have added the ones I use so you can use it when you engage in battle. They are all scriptural, which helps you learn scriptures too. Download them here. Covering prayers

  3. Repent of your sins before you start so the devil will not easily have victory over you.

  4. Don’t get distracted or become fearful- just remember it’s because you are making progress.

  5. Don’t hold hatred against anyone the devil may use against you- remember they are not his allies only his pawns. Pray for their souls.

  6. When you feel overwhelmed ask God to help you endure-remember the race is not for the swift but for those who endure — that’s where the victory comes. It’s a prayer I have prayed in my life, even now as I embark on praying for my family’s salvation and need to be persistent in doing it.

  7. And finally-Pray until you see your enemy defeated.
