Can Christian Fiction improve your relationship with Christ?

Updated: 1 day ago

As a Christian Fiction author, I’ve come to realize that I, too, must give an account to God for what I contribute in feeding His sheep. We are all called to share His Word and guide others toward Him—whether through fiction or nonfiction.

Can Christian Fiction improve your relationship with Christ

When I began writing my first novel, I learned that it wasn’t about what I wanted to write but about God’s will. I had an idea in mind, but by the third chapter, God redirected the story entirely. What emerged was a lesson-filled journey centered on faith—one that not only taught me but resonated with readers.

The process deepened with my second novel, The Path of the Chosen Warriors, a spiritual warfare fiction inspired by a dream God gave me. At the time, I was learning about spiritual warfare prayers and interpreting dreams, and I experienced tremendous spiritual growth while writing the book. What amazed me most was how God used the story to edify and transform me as much as He intended it to transform readers.

Here are five lessons God taught me during this journey—and how they made me a better Christian:

1. Start My Day with the Lord

"O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is." – Psalm 63:1-2

In The Path of the Chosen Warriors, Joshua, the main character, had a habit of starting his day with God. After completing the book, I recognized that this was something I also needed to work on. Prioritizing time with the Lord each morning has helped me stay grounded and more committed in my walk with Him.

2. Be Patient While Waiting for God

"But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." – James 1:4

Hannah, a key character in the book, was exiled for refusing to worship the demon god Abaddon. She lived in isolation but continued praying for the deliverance of her town for nearly 20 years. Watching her unwavering faith taught me not to give up in prayer, even when answers seem delayed. God’s timing is always perfect.

3. Learn to See God in Everything

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you." – Isaiah 43:2

In the story, a storm brought Joshua and Ruth to a town as sinful as Sodom and Gomorrah, where God revealed their purpose. This reminded me that God often uses challenges to fulfill His plans for our lives. Now, instead of immediately blaming the enemy for difficulties, I first ask God, “What do You want me to learn from this?”

4. Distraction is a Tool of the Devil

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." – 1 Peter 5:8

In the book’s climactic battle, the townspeople united in focused prayer to defeat the possessed High Priest. Even when Ruth was thrown into a river, they didn’t let fear or distraction derail their victory. This taught me that when prayers are effective, the enemy will often try to distract us—sometimes through unexpected disruptions, even from family members. Staying focused is key.

5. God is Faithful

"But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one." – 2 Thessalonians 3:3

Though Ruth’s life was threatened, Joshua trusted God’s promise that she was his chosen wife. In the end, their obedience brought protection, provision, and joy. This encouraged me to trust God completely, even when I don’t know the next step. He is always faithful to equip us for the tasks He assigns.

We Are Warriors in God’s Army

As Christians, we are all warriors chosen for specific assignments in God’s Kingdom. Trusting Him, obeying His call, and walking in faith will help us fulfill our purpose and experience His promises.

How The Path of the Chosen Warriors Can Help You

My books are more than fiction—they are tools for deliverance. The prayers, scriptures, and spiritual warfare strategies woven into each story are drawn from my personal experiences. Through the characters, I demonstrate practical ways to apply God’s Word and overcome the enemy’s attacks.
