How to open the eyes of the spiritually blind?

Updated: 2 days ago

Have you ever wondered if you are spiritually blind? And if so, how do you open your eyes to spiritual things? What does this mean to you?

How to open the eyes of the spiritually blind

The Deception of Sin

Many times, some of us look at the Christian faith as being too restrictive and choose to live a sinful life, rather than conforming to the righteous laws of Christ. We fail to realize that just like the Jews who rejected Christ and chose Barabbas instead, we are placing ourselves under the authority of Satan—the lord of sin.

In the end, what we thought was freedom, becomes our prison. Our will to resist is weakened against all the enticements that stand before us. It isn’t until we decide to try Jesus that we begin to discover that it is only through having Him dwell inside us that we have the power to overcome sin.

Sin Offers Nothing but Deception

Sin offers nothing except deception. This was the same fate the people of Sodom Shadows in my book The Path of the Chosen Warriors found themselves in when they decided to venture away from the fold of Shiloh City, a Christian community. Abaddon, the demon lord from the sea, made them an offer that seemed to make their decision to leave Shiloh City worthwhile.

But what they thought would bring freedom—wealth and the ability to live as they pleased—only took them into deeper bondage, darkening their eyes to the truth. This happens to us when we allow the things of this world to pull our focus from God and His righteous ways. Just as parents have rules over their children to keep them from making bad choices, our heavenly Father guides us with His wisdom and love.

The Dangers of Rebellion and God’s Mercy

Rebellion is as bad as witchcraft to our Heavenly Father. It's an action that the devil is influencing many to exercise today, bringing down God’s wrath upon them. This was the same fate the residents of Sodom Shadows were heading toward, but one person’s prayers saved them.

Hannah, who was banished for standing against Abaddon, prayed for the town for twenty years. Even though Abaddon had sentenced her to death, God saved her and filled her with His love and mercy toward the people. Through her faithfulness, she continued to pray.

God’s Love and Mercy

God’s love for us is so great that even in our sin and rejection of Him, He still loves us and wants to spare us from the punishment our sins deserve. As children of God, we are called to stand in the gap for the unbelievers, seeking God’s mercy on their behalf. We must pray that the cup of iniquity in our land does not reach its limit, to bring God’s wrath on us,  as explained in Genesis 15:16.

The Power of Prayer and the Word

I wrote this to open our eyes to the immeasurable love of God. Take a journey into The Path of the Chosen Warriors and discover through the lives of the characters how much God loves us and how to stand your ground against the enemy. I wrote this book under the influence of the Holy Spirit, and every day it leads me to repentance, courage, faithfulness to God, and a desire to be more holy.

How to Open the Eyes of the Spiritually Blind

So, how can we open the eyes of the spiritually blind? We must teach them the truth. Sin brings darkness, but knowledge and understanding of God’s Word bring light and spiritual sight. It removes the scales of darkness that many have on their eyes today.

And if you feel you don’t know enough of the Word to teach someone, then do what Hannah did—pray for God to send laborers to reach them with His transforming Word.
